Linlithgow Kayak Racing (LKR) hosted its national sprint kayak regatta on Linlithgow Loch on Saturday 21st May. With competitors attending from all over UK, representing local clubs in Scotland as well as GB international level athletes from Scotland and England, it was certainly a spectacle of performance and determination. In blustery conditions, which challenged even the best paddlers, racing took place all day, over distances of 200m, 500m, 1km and 4km. It was a fabulous day for all involved – spectators, volunteers and competitors. For results, view here.
LKR as a club has evolved tremendously over the last couple of years. With club boat storage at Park Farm, Linlithgow there is a regular bustle of enthusiastic paddlers of all ages (age 8 years+) and aspirations (recreational and racing) on the Union Canal every Saturday morning. LKR warmly welcomes and encourages you to contact them if you would like to find out how you too can benefit from this exciting and rewarding sport. Do you have the enthusiasm to learn about boat handling, and you want to have fun developing your fitness and performance with new friends? If so, this club is for you! Sign up for the “come and try” sessions in June/July here.
