To all LKR Members,
This is our formal notification that the Annual General Meeting of LKR is taking place in the Park Bistro on Thursday 21st November starting at 7pm. It is a great opportunity for all LKR members to meet together socially in comfort and warmth indoors, with refreshments, to review the paddling year and look ahead to aspirations for the club in 2025. We will also celebrate the successes of our members in 2024 through the Prizegiving. Afterwards, there will be time to socialise, have some fun and try our luck in the LKR raffle.
Thanks to all those who have already responded with thoughts on how we can improve the club for all members, some great ideas and plenty for us to work on. The AGM is a good chance for more discussion around this too. As a reminder, we found it easier to identify improvements when we described club activities in six groups:
- Mini-K1 paddlers and transition to K1
- Youth racing and performance paddlers
- Adult beginners and transition to racing
- Racing adults
- Health & wellbeing adult paddlers in racing boats
- Volunteers, family supporters and coaches/instructors
AGM Agenda
1 – Apologies for Absence
2 – Approval of Minutes from AGM 2023
3 – Trustees report
4 – Financial report
5 – Election of office bearers & trustees
6 – Any other competent business
7 – Prizegiving & social
The draft Financial Report and Minutes from 2023 AGM will be circulated by email ahead of the meeting and there is no proposal to change the existing fee structure for the following year.
There are a variety of opportunities for members to get involved in helping the club thrive, notably around administration, or governance, event organisation; member engagement & social media; safeguarding & wellbeing; and safety. Some of these functions are mandatory for us to remain affiliated to Paddle Scotland. Remember that Cecile, Judith and Clare are standing down from the Committee so replacements for those roles are required as well as additional safeguarding roles and safety roles.
Nominations to join the Committee for the specific roles of Chair, Secretary, Trustee and/or Treasurer should be emailed to Gilbert by Sunday 16th November.
The other roles do not need formal approval, so just speak to Morag, Gilbert or Andy at any time if you would like to find out more about any of those.
Meantime, a reminder that the first of the Winter Time Trials takes place on Sunday 4th November, with entries through the Paddle Scotland website closing on Friday lunchtime.
Best regards
Andy McGowan
Interim Chair
